Luton & Beyond CIC worked alongside the Luton Baako Festival, local cultural organisations, faith groups and community groups across Luton.

The collaboration provided access to established audiences, shared resources and opportunities for different communities to connect and engage with one another.

The event attracted attention beyond expected audiences, including visiting Ghanaian women police officers who expressed encouragement and support for the initiative. This highlighted the programme’s increasing visibility and international relevance.

Participants were encouraged to learn through hands-on cultural activities, including African drumming workshops, cultural crafts, Anansi-inspired activities and storytelling.

Panel discussions brought together educators, business leaders and community figures to explore the African and Caribbean diaspora experience.

Intergenerational storytelling also gave elders and young people an opportunity to share migration stories, memories and lived experiences.

The collaborative event attracted 500+ participants, with strong representation from families and young people. The wider Luton Baako Festival attracted over 1,000 attendees.

It helped foster cultural awareness, respect and solidarity while creating opportunities for people to celebrate their heritage and build stronger community connections.

Roots & Routes: Diaspora & Cultural Fusion was a significant milestone for Rise Through Our Roots.

With more than 500 participants, the event demonstrated how heritage and culture can unite people, educate communities and inspire pride. The collaboration with Luton Baako Festival provided a valuable platform for celebrating African and Caribbean contributions to Luton's cultural life.
